Aaric the Thief
The Short version- a short elf with un-descript features is a third generation thief.
The long version- Aaric is a short, impetuous youth that is an heir to a legacy of business and thievery. While Grandfather is still active and most notably a teacher when needed and the price is met, there are many stories that he has yet to share. What is known; He has been all over the world. He has or had homes in some of the most notable cities of the continent. He talks fondly of Gatholm, and will return there once “the young ones are better”. The “Young Ones”, my father and I, are still learning and most likely will be for years. Father is an accomplished con artist and cut purse. If he had to choose a favorite skill, other than conning people, he would lean toward lock picking more than anything else. Grandfather calls him a dirty grifter and a utility thief, but being that he inherited my grandmother’s height and charm, and not the nimble smaller frame of Grandfather it is understandable. Father no longer takes it personally. Grandfather seems to have no real weakness, except perhaps his attitude. While he can still charm someone- he no longer feels the need to. But he has some of the most remarkable sleight of hand skills, something that amazed me as a little one. Grandfather currently owns 3 businesses, two in the merchant area and one in the slum. Their primary purpose is to sell off stolen goods. The slum area shop will also occasionally purchase things of an indiscriminate nature. Father had me working in the merchant shops from very young. He said it was the fastest way to teach how to read a mark. Grandfather seemed to think it was a good idea, as long as he had the evenings. He said he was going to make certain that “there were no mistakes this time”. I have inherited my grandfather’s frame, which is a bit small for an elf. Wiry and short, I am often mistaken for a half-elf child. Father is a high ranking member in the thieves guild, but of course, grandfather is so high ranking he only answers to those that no longer report to anyone. I have just passed the age of inclusion and have only been given a few assignments. But, wanting to branch out more on my own, I am trying to be a “second story man”. One who is good at climbing, infiltration, lock picking, and the occasional acrobatic feat. Trying to stand out in a field that has been virtually mastered by others in your family is difficult. But this seems to be a skill collection that no one in the family has attempted to master. But Father and Grandfather both said that the Panther and his protégé the Cat are the best. As my only favor from grandfather he got me an introduction with the Pnather and I was able to impress him, her? I don’t really know who the Panther is. My father sponsored me in the guild, effectively getting me past a lot of the pickpocketing and slum robbing that normally goes with a being a newcomer.
